I Think, Therefore I Kant - Essay Example The article I Think, Therefore I Kant outlines the way of thinking works and the progressive considering Immanuel Kant at the turn of the nineteenth century and his way of thinking of reason despite everything resounds in the Western world. In his endeavor to accommodate religion and science, he drew analysis from all sides. His works, frequently overwhelming and extensive, have now and again made Kant hard to comprehend. However underneath the surface lies an expressive way to deal with reasoning and profound quality. In the case of being commended or censured, he has been known as the finisher and vanquisher of Illumination. A nearby assessment of Kant's moral hypothesis uncovers why it drew such discussion and why it keeps on enduring. Kant's individual uniqueness comes from his confidence in what is called deontological morals or the investigation of obligation. PT.garuda indonesia - Essay Example In the year 1990, the nation has around 10 carriers where in the year 2005, the number has expanded to more than 30. A portion of the main aircrafts incorporate Indonesia Air Asia, Garuda Indonesia, Lion Air, Merpati Nusantara Airlines, Wings Air, Mandala Air, Batavia Air and so forth 1.2 Background of PT. Garuda Indonesia Garuda Indonesia is a main aircraft association. The airlineââ¬â¢s first flight began in the year 1949. In spite of monetary downturn in 2007, the carrier organization has had the option to make sure about significant benefit in the years 2007, 2008 and 2009. Part B 2.0 Factors Affecting Demand and Supply (speculations and applications) 2.1 Factors Affecting Demand There are a few components influencing the interest side of the aircraft business. Components like value, quality, number of purchasers, number of providers, pay, anticipated future value, socioeconomics, populace development, regularity and so on. In this fragment, four components have been talked ab out in this division to portray the effect of the equivalent on the aircraft business. 2.1.1 Price coming up next is the interest bend indicating the development of interest against value developments. Figure: Demand Curve (Source: Stanford, n.d.) As the cost of the item would expand the interest should diminish, while the interest would increment with the declining cost. In the diminishing airfares will build the interest. On the off chance that, the aircraft organizations choose to diminish the airfares, they are relied upon to encounter less request than before as an ever increasing number of explorers would like to go via train and other transportation mediums as opposed to taking the costly flights. For this situation, the development will occur along the interest bend. The figure 1.1 graph shows what might befall the interest of any item or administration incase of value variety when all other compelling factors are held consistent. 2.1.2 Number of Buyers Number of Buyers is a huge factor to decide the interest in the aircraft business. At the point when the quantity of clients would expand, the amount requested would build prompting expanded market request (Mankiw, 2008, p. 71). Notwithstanding, if the quantity of clients diminishes in this industry, the interest would decay. For an occurrence, after the awful episode of 9/11, the aircraft business has encountered a decrease in the quantity of air voyagers because of some security related issues. Along these lines, if the quantity of purchasers builds, the interest bend would move rightwards. As more clients would need to purchase the tickets, the amount requested would increment consolidating a move in the interest bend in the rightward bearing, from d1 to d2. As the amount requested would increment at a fixed cost, the interest expected to expand keeping the value point steady. On the off chance that the amount requested is less, at that point the interest diagram is going to move leftwards. In straig htforward terms, as the quantity of clients would increment for the aircraft business, the interest bend is relied upon to encounter move in its position. 2.1.3 Income The interest bend wo

Unless you were completely off the grid in the last week or so, youââ¬â¢ve probably been hearing a lot about southern chef/TV personality Paula Deen and the backlash over herâ⬠¦letââ¬â¢s call it her admission of using pejorative words (the details arenââ¬â¢t necessary here). In the subsequent and very highly public aftermath of her admission, Deen has publicly apologized a few times. Some of Deenââ¬â¢s have fans rallied to support her through social media, while some of her critics have been equally vocal, if not more vociferous. Deenââ¬â¢s professional decline has happened faster than you can melt a stick of butter on a hot skillet; sheââ¬â¢s lost her television show, along with a plethora of book and merchandising deals. And the hits (or misses, in this case) keep on coming, despite her continued efforts to rectify the situation. But Deen is not the only public figure to make missteps in the attempt to reverse a big-time blunder thatââ¬â¢s captured the heat of a public spotlight. How about the case of former BP CEO, Tony Hayward, who in 2010 ensnared himself in some very public cases of ââ¬Å"open mouth, insert footâ⬠during the Deepwater Horizon oil spill? He also provided an excellent example for how not to handle a catastrophic oil spill, which also, sadly, included casualties. Remember his famous and very public claim: ââ¬Å"I want my life backâ⬠? Iââ¬â¢m sure to this day public relation experts cite Haywardââ¬â¢s successive gaffes as a prime reason for why CEOs must always be mindful of the words they choose to useââ¬âespecially during a crisis. Whether you do or do not support Hayward or Deen isnââ¬â¢t the point of this post, because we want to make a much bigger oneââ¬âand weââ¬â¢re pretty sure it will resonate with you. Despite our best intentions, or maybe because we lack them in the first place, we sometimes mess up at work, at school, in life. To err is human, after all (thanks, Alexander Pope), and we make mistakes, we fail, and we say things we regret. But itââ¬â¢s how we attempt to turn a failure around that matters most, because itââ¬â¢s in making the attempt at a turnaround that we show others weââ¬â¢ve got a wide enough streak of humility to admit we stumbled (sometimes very badly). It also shows that we are willing to take responsibility, and will do whatever it takes to extract some critical take-aways for future use. Sometimes, though, in the midst of a blunder, bad decision, or ill-advised choice of words, itââ¬â¢s hard to think clearly about how to recover as quickly and as gracefully as possible. Whether our mistakes are public or private, they need to be cleaned up. We think we found something to hasten that process. Eric T. Wagner culled some sagacious lessons from the recent Deen debacle in his article ââ¬Å"5 Lessons from the Paula Deen Meltdown.â⬠Herewith, are some insightful pointers that might help us to think twice and avoid getting into trouble in the first place. 1. ââ¬Å"You Must Watch Yourselfâ⬠: Imagine the world your parents lived in, one in which social media was but an abstract idea dreamt up only by scientists, futurists and artists. In your parentsââ¬â¢ world, people applied for jobs using the postal service, and had to buy film for their cameras to take pictures. And speaking of pictures, if someone took an embarrassing picture of you, well, you could just tear it up or destroy the negative. Not too many people would be the wiser. And if you said something offensive, rare was the person who had a video camera on hand to record your detestable uttering for posterity. Oh, those halcyon daysâ⬠¦when you didnââ¬â¢t have to worry about having your junior high pictures posted in a public forumââ¬âthey are gone. Now, almost everything we say or do is fodder for public consumption, and it takes no time at all for words, pictures and videos to go viral. Wagner writes: ââ¬Å"Lightning fast Twitter and Facebook shares in a well connected world means we are living shoulder to shoulderâ⬠¦you must watch yourself. Your words. Your actions. And maybe even your thoughts. As Deen found out the hard way, you never know when theyââ¬â¢ll come back to bite you.â⬠2. ââ¬Å"Be Authentic with Apologiesâ⬠: Basically, the idea is simple: when you mess up, apologize. But the reality may be tougher, because giving a genuine apology entails admitting to yourself first, and others soon after, that youââ¬â¢ve made a mistake. Pride can be a hurdle to a real apology. If you can admit the mistake, make the apology immediately and genuinely. It goes a long way in aiding your redemptionââ¬âwhether you are seeking a minor or major one. ââ¬Å"When you do make a mistake (and you most likely will), be humble and sincere in your first apology because people can tell the difference,â⬠writes Wagner in his article. 3. ââ¬Å"Tipping Points and Floodgatesâ⬠: Even after his many gaffes during the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, it still took a few months before Hayward lost his job at BP. Thereââ¬â¢s no doubt that his missteps cost him the top perch at the company. In Deenââ¬â¢s case, however, the repercussions were immediate: the Food Network cancelled her show faster than you can even say the word ââ¬Å"butterâ⬠. This was followed by a slew of companies announcing that they had chosen to sever projects and ties with Deen. After the tipping point, Deenââ¬â¢s public fall came fast and furious. Wagner writes: ââ¬Å"The tipping point, which opens the floodgates to either huge fortune or colossal failure comes much quicker in this age.â⬠He cites the example of Instagram as a contrast to Deenââ¬â¢s situation: ââ¬Å"Stare in the eyes of the tipping point for a company like Instagram. Yesââ¬âthe founders fought for relevance [and] then out of nowhere; boom. Instagram tipsâ⬠¦then gets swallowed by Facebook. Basically a Deen in reverse.â⬠Just think of our aforementioned viral effect: word of your miscue can go global very quickly. 4. ââ¬Å"Save For a Rainy Dayâ⬠: Both Deen and Hayward have lost an undetermined amount of income due to their professional failures. While we (and they) may never know the exact dollar figure, we can bet that it was a lot. As Wagner points out, itââ¬â¢s a really good idea to put aside money in case thereââ¬â¢s ever a time the well you normally rely on runs dry. Wagner writes: ââ¬Å"Donââ¬â¢t get caught up in ââ¬Ëwealth creepââ¬â¢. You knowââ¬âcontinuing to add more expenses as your income rises. If you hit it big, stay prudent. Donââ¬â¢t get carried away drinking your own kool aid to the point you spend every dime coming in. Save for your rainy day. Trust meââ¬âitââ¬â¢s coming.â⬠5. ââ¬Å"Time Heals All Woundsâ⬠: This is the good news, because ifââ¬âand whenââ¬âyou fail, redemption is always a possibility even if may look like itââ¬â¢s hovering over the horizon. More often than not, itââ¬â¢s just going to take some time to get there. It is, though, up to you to grasp the opportunity. Writes Wagner: ââ¬Å"If youââ¬â¢re in a firestorm hot enough to singe your eyebrows; fear not. It will cycle through. Time will heal the wounds and youââ¬â¢ll come out stronger for it.â⬠When Alexander Pope wrote: ââ¬Å"to err is human,â⬠he followed it up with this: ââ¬Å"to forgive, divine.â⬠Irrespective of your view on forgiveness, and when to apply it, know this: when you take a metaphorical fall on your face, how you pick yourself up and dust yourself off matters. And if you brought down others with you, and you seek to make amends right away, itââ¬â¢ll go a long way in restoring your credibility. Maybe youââ¬â¢ll receive forgiveness, or maybe you wonââ¬â¢t even need it. But if you take heed of the five tips above, youââ¬â¢ll hopefully become slightly more self-aware each time you fail. And failure, because itââ¬â¢s inevitable, wonââ¬â¢t be as scary because youââ¬â¢ll be able to fail smarterââ¬âand with a tad more grace. The Influence of Television in Politics ââ¬Å"Americans are the best entertained and quite likely the least-informed people in the Western world.â⬠(Postman, 1984, p. 2) While this statement is painfully ominous, its message is one that has been debated tirelessly since the dawn of technology. The influence of television in politics is one with strong advocates and opponents. There have been many studies and investigations into the effects of technology on the political world, and yet no conclusive evidence has come forth. (Rannay, 1985, p. 3) Despite this, it is noâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Instead, they just skim over politics, taking in a few stories here and there (mostly the more controversial stories that get more media coverage) and make their decision as to who will be president. Just like in show business , anything slow and detailed is boring in television, and so Americans greedily gobble up light dishes of insignificant facts, leaving the heavier business of issue concerns to others. This ââ¬Å"[â⬠¦] condition is chronic and has become painfully evident in the late political season [â⬠¦] A medium that has shown it can bring information and even ideas effectively to millions is reduced every two years to a tool for stirring up emotions and shutting down minds.â⬠(Goodman, 1994, n.p.) But enough of this depressing business for a moment; let us discuss why we are allowing ourselves to become so politically lazy. The social stigma of a lazy American is common but is not necessarily true. So why do so many Americans allow themselves to be swept up in political frenzy, eventually making bad decisions that lead to bad government? The answer is in the way we think. Question: Discuss About The Equipments It Invests In Property Market? Answer: Introducation Accounts receivable refer to the amount that the business organizations expect to receive from their debtors as a result of credit sales. Evaluation: From the case study, it has been seen that the trade receivable official nhas all the required steps related to accounts receivable. For example, in case of medical instrument return by the consumer, the respected official drawn credit notes in favor of the customer after investigating the reasons behind the return and the documentation process. Moreover, officials sent the related journal postings along with receipts to the bank for the preparation of deposit slip. Thus, it can be seen that the risk is high. Audit Risk: The trade relievable has undertaken all the necessary steps related to receivables. The risk involved in this case is that the trade receivable officials might inflate the receivables in order to show lesser amount of receivables (Arens, Elder Mark, 2012). Audit Steps to Reduce Risk: In order to reduce the accounts receivable risk of GPSA, the officials must separate out different actions related to the accounts receivable among the staffs. Investment: Investment refers to a particular amount of money that can be converted into cash within a period of three to twelve months. Thus, it is considered as cash equivalent. Evaluation: Business investment use to influence the whole accounting systems of the companies and this, it needs to be differently treated. Hence, risk related to investments is medium. Audit Risk: Risk in investments arrive when the investments are done without taking into consideration the related risk factors with it. Audit Steps to Reduce Risk: It is needed to inspect the return from investments on a regular basis. Moreover, the investment process, the related investment trends needs to be analyzed. Property Assets and Resources: The accounts associated with this are considered as fixed assets and the depreciation related with the fixed assets. Evaluation: The ineffective registration of fixed assets and ineffective calculation of depreciation can negatively affect the financial statements of the companies. Thus, the risk is high associated with property assets and resources (Vona, 2012). Audit Risk: Audit risk can be arrived in case the accounts do not differentiate the utilization of resources for more than 180 days and less than 180 days and they do not record this effectively. Audit Steps to Reduce Risk: It is needed to maintain the ledger of these accounts properly in order to bring coordination between purchase and sales. In addition, the amount of impairment also needs to be evaluated. Intangible Assets: The major accounts related with intangible assets are goodwill, patents, copyright and others. Evaluation: The thorough examination of intangible assets is required in order to determine the value and recognition mode. The definite or indefinite life period of them needs to be determined. Thus, risk related to these assets is high. Audit Risk: It is difficult to ascertain the fair value of intangible assets as they do not have any physical existence. Apart from this, variance can be seen between the acquirement cost and fair value of intangible assets (William Jr, Glover Prawitt, 2016). Audit Steps to Reduce Risk: The professionals need to determine the fair value of the intangible assets. Audit risk can be reduced by implementing control over the process to determine the fair value of the intangible assets. Capitalization of Firms Research and Development: It can be seen that GPSA research activities were not growing and thus, it is possible that both the profit and loss accounts are debited. Evaluation: A very thin gap can be seen between the successful and unsuccessful research. Ineffective recognition can lead to high risk as the research processes include high amount of money. Audit Risk: Inherent audit risks can be seen in case of unsuccessful research processes. Furthermore, it is difficult to mention the specific amount of money related with the research process (Ashley-Smith, 2013). Audit Steps to Reduce Risk: It is needed to properly examine all the ledger accounts related with these researches. In addition, it is needed to carry out a marker research before involving in any kinds of research activities. The evaluation of major ratios is discussed below: Return on Equity: In case of return of equity, a downward trend can be observed in return on equity of the company as it decreased from 22.7% in 2015 to 7.19% in 2017. It indicates the decreased capacity of the company to generate profit from investments. Thus, major risks can be seen in profitability on equity of the company (Hevert, 2013). Earned Return on Total Assets: In case of return on total assets, a downward trend can also be observed as it decreased from 15.52% in 2015 to 4.86% in 2017. It indicates that the capacity of the company to generate income before tax and to gain tax against resources has reduced. Thus, it is a major risk in the company (Kabajeh, Al Nuaimat Dahmash, 2012). Net Profit Margin Analysis: Declining trend can also be seen in the net profit margin of the company as in dreaded from 17.85% in 2015 to 10.38% in 2017. It shows the reduced capacity of the company to earn profits and leads to the high risk of profitability. This is one of the major financial risks of the companies as the company is failing in the generation of higher net profit (Stahl et al., 2012). Time Earned Ratio Analysis: The capacity of the company to earn interest has decreased as the times earned ratio decreased from 4.10 in 2015 to 1.90 in 2017. It leads to the financial risks as the firm is losing its capacity to earn interest incomes. Days in Accounts Receivable: It can be seen that there has been an increase in the days in accounts receivable from 53.24 in 2015 days to 83.07 in 2017. This aspect increases the bad debt risk of the company for the increase in the chance to not recover the receivables (Michalski, 2013). Current Ratio Analysis: A riding trend can be seen in the current ration of the company. However, it needs to mention that in 2016, the current ratio was 1.80. Thus, the risk of not utilizing the working capital of the company remains high (Babalola Abiola, 2013). Debt to Equity Ratio Analysis: Higher debt to equity ratio that is more than one show the high leverage of the company and it implies that the company is hugely dependent on long-term debts. This aspect increases the financial risk of the companies, as the company has to pay higher amount of money as interest expenses (Palley, 2013). The internal control in the system is discussed below: (a) Effective Control Bonus Disbursement: Shareholders of the companies can assess the bonus paid to the managers. The responsible person to prepare budget needs to be asked to explain the reasons for budget variance (Soudani, 2012). Password Protection: Passwords helped the form in protecting various applications to restrict free admittance. It is needed to assess the success of the companys IT system. Permitting Discount: In the company, the system is to obtain permission from sales director in order to provide the customers with various discounts (Soudani, 2012). Trade Receivable: At the time to close the accounts, the trade receivables are merged with the debtor accounts. Aging Evaluation: After considering the amount of all the invoices, the aged evaluation of receivables is done with the assistance of computerized systems. Financial controller of the firm is responsible for this evaluation. The responsible officials for receivable management are asked to produce the reasons behind the delays in payments. Doubtful Debt: As a part of the follow up strategy of the companys doubtful debts, further shipments to the specific customers are refused in case of the not payment of required minimum amount (Soudani, 2012). (b) Risk Alleviated Admittance to Database: Even in the presence of strong password to access the companys specific programs, it can be seen that there is not any password protection of the database of the firm that increases the risk of unlawful access. Physical Delivery Notes: Shipping tiles to the customers increases the amount of manual notes. Increased amount of notes leads to the increase risks in making mistakes in these notes (Chopra Sodhi, 2014). Single Individual Responsible for Diverse Activities: It can be seen in the company that a single person is responsible for carrying on diverse business operations. A single clerk is responsible for issuing of credit notes, documentation of reasons, management of trade receivables and many others. Thus, the chance to make mistakes by the clerk increases (Chopra Sodhi, 2014). (c) Test of Control Test of control is one of the major processes of audit to examine the internal control of the companies. The classification of test of control is done below: Re-performance: As a part of this system, there is the introduction of a new transaction for the examination of internal control (Numan Willekens, 2012). Inspection: In this process, the assessment of important documents is done with the help of stamps and authorized signatures. Observation: In this system, all the business processes ate observed and assessed in order to bring improvements. The control systems are discussed below: Bonus Distribution: In order to distribute bonus, internal control system can be used. Password Protection: In order to protect the passwords, the inspection tactic of control can be used. Discount Allowance: In case of the allowance of discounts, the tactic of re-performance can be used. Trade Receivable: The performance of re-performance can be used for the management of trade receivables. Aging Analysis: Both the tactics of observation and inspection can be used in this regard. Doubtful Debt: In this situation, the re-performance tactics can be used (Numan Willekens, 2012). The weaknesses in sales and trade receivables are discussed below: Sales Bonus to the management is provided based on the sales volume of the company. This is a weakness as the sale s figures can be increased with the help of manipulation. Manual declarations for sales can include the chance for mistakes and faults. The chance of misplacement on the sales journals cannot be ignored, as they are produced monthly basis (Skaife, Veenman Wangerin, 2013). Trade Receivables It can be seen that the trade receivables officials are also responsible for business receivables. This reason can lead to the unintentional mistakes or errors in the financial statements. This is a major weakness in trade receivables. At the end of every month, the trade receivables are merged with the bank receipts. This aspect represents an extensive period for the settlement of some of the key items of the company like receivables (Skaife, Veenman Wangerin, 2013). References Arens, A. A., Elder, R.
